Peruvian Women Made to Take Oath to Vote for Keiko Fujimori
EspañolKeiko Fujimori’s supporters in Peru forced women to swear they will vote for the presidential candidate, local media reported.
According to ATV + Noticias, during an event celebrating International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 9, members of the Popular Force political party ordered the attendees to raise their right hand and swear an oath to vote for Fujimori, the former president’s daughter who is now leading in the polls.
According to local media, the event took place in the city of Tarma in the Junín region. The organizers were supporters of Vladimiro Huaroc, Fujimori’s vice presidential candidate.
[adrotate group=”8″]”For your family, for your children and for our region, do you swear to vote for our candidate, Keiko Fujimori, and rule with her?” asked one of the event’s organizers. The participants unanimously answered “yes.”
The oath concluded with a kind of warning: “The region, your families and the women of Junín will thank you, and if you don’t vote (for Keiko) they will sue you.”
According to the ATV + Noticias review, the event was attended by hundreds of women who are not members of Popular Force.
