Canada Losing Pace in Key Business Ranking

EspañolForbes has released its 2013 “Best Countries for Business” ranking, and Canada has fallen noticeably. Its 8th place ranking, while not embarrassing, comes after 5th place last year and the number one spot in 2011.

The magazine grades countries according to several indicators, and Canada’s breakdown is: ninth for property rights, 21st for innovation and technology, eighth for tax burden, ninth for corruption, sixth for trade freedom, 77th for monetary freedom, second for red tape, fourth for investor protection, 58th for investor returns, and first for personal freedom.

Canada was outranked by Ireland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Singapore; and followed by Norway and the Netherlands.
