New Climate Change Research Center Opens in Chile
As of Tuesday, the Center for Climate and Resilience Research is open in Chile. The 20-strong team is part of a government-funded project, through the Fondef program, and will produce “interdisciplinary” research.
The move comes after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change identified Chile as vulnerable to the effects of climate change and pollution; that includes desertification in the north, water scarcity in the northern and central regions, and heavy emissions in Santiago, the capital.
