Second Colombian Guerrilla Group Nearing Peace Talks
While negotiations between the FARC and the Colombian government are becoming disjointed — with negotiations on the side of negotiations — ELN (Ejército de Liberación Nacional) is nearing its own round of negotiations.
ELN, the second largest guerrilla group in the country, has released a Canadian mining executive and opened the door to the talks. They will begin “in the coming days,” according to a Monday announcement from Vice President Angelino Garzon.
The location remains unannounced, except that it will be out of the country and not in Cuba. Some outlets have speculated, however, that the talks will be in Uruguay.
