Weather to Impact Guatemala Despite Lowest Carbon Emissions

According to the Global Climate Risk Index, the Central-American nation’s geographical position, poor housing and urban design, high malnutrition, and unemployment leave Guatemalans in a vulnerable situation for unstable weather and related climate change impacts.

In the last decade, extreme weather such as tropical storms, droughts, hurricanes, and earthquakes have impacted Guatemala, despite having one of the lowest carbon emissions rate per capita. All Central-American countries combined sum up less that 0.5 percent of global carbon dioxide.
